World-Information.Org gaat dit jaar door in Parijs op 30 en 31 mei. Thema van deze zesde editie is “In/Visibility, Access and Urban Zoning”.
“World-Information City Paris 2009 is an international, two day conference focusing on four major themes within the wide field of new urban geographies: mobility, global flows and local dynamics, the remaking of urban spaces through new strategies of conflict and security, and new approaches to map distributed action in space. Mobility – of people, goods, and information – across distances large and small has become an ever more salient aspect of a wide range of social practices.”
Onder de sprekers vinden we onder meer Saskia Sassen over “re-assessing the urban”, Stephen Graham over “the new military urbanism” en Bruno Latour over “mapping complex networks”. Verder ook verschillende workshops, waaronder die rond “Zoning VS Open Source City” met Bureau des Études.
Twee razend interessante dagen, die gepresenteerd worden door Brian Holmes en die bovendien gratis en vrij toegankelijk zijn.
De website bevat verder ook een uitgebreide knowledge base en het archief van de voorgaande edities waaronder die van de eerste editie in Brussel 2000.
